Beyond Hong Kong’s famous skyline is a world of intimate local neighbourhoods, each boasting their own unique vibe, flavour and heritage.
A Traditional Neighbourhood with a Twist
When I started working in Sai Ying Pun three years ago, I was initially disappointed to be away from the hustle and bustle that you would get from the business districts. However, what I came to discover and love was a side of Hong Kong that is steeped in history and a setting that most do not usually experience. Walking along the streets, you see pieces of what Hong Kong used to be. From heritage buildings, colourful low rise apartments to traditional dried food shops, you feel as if you are stepping back in time. There is always something different going on when you explore the little streets and alleys, which also makes for great photography opportunities!
