Take a Bite into Singapore’s Food Festival
If you’re fortunate enough to be in town during Singapore’s Food Festival 2016 (July 15-31) excite your taste buds with the many hawker street food, spicy curries, seafood dishes, sweet delicacies and culinary innovations on offer.
The festival’s main event is STREAT (July 15-16), held at a pop-up restaurant with more than 10 popular hawkers and celebrity chefs. These food masters will offer a dazzling smorgasbord of both classic and modern interpretations of local food.
I’m eager to find out what the celebrity chefs will be cooking up. The master chefs include Chef Susur Lee, one of the sought-after chefs; the award-winning Chef Ken Ling, who oversees the kitchens of TungLok Heen; and banker-turned-chef sensation Han Li Guang, founder of Labyrinth.
Another culinary event is The 50 Cents Fest! at Chinatown Food Street. Enjoy 1950s food – such as satays and rice noodles stir-fries - at 1950s prices, for as low as 50 cents. Now, that’s what I call a deal!
For over two weeks, serious foodies and visitors alike will be spoilt for choice at the Singapore Food Festival. So, bring a healthy appetite!
