My stance on sustainability

Enhancing local biodiversity: I already encourage less frequent laundering and provide PressReader access to thousands of digital newspapers and magazines. However, my team is constantly looking for new ways to reduce the consumption of our planet's natural resources. At Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore, they have transformed an unused backyard into a lush spice garden replete with tropical fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. This spice garden will serve as the setting for the hotel’s exciting composting workshops that will be regularly held throughout 2017 to educate and inspire the staff, guests and members of the public. 

Embracing local communities: My team organises bimonthly birthday celebrations for Serving People with Disabilities (SPD), a centre that enriches the quality of life for the disabled. They also visit the elderly at Thian Leng Old Folks Home to help the residents celebrate occasions such as Chinese New Year, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas. Being part of the Shangri-La Group, we are signatories of the UN Global Compact and firm constituents on the Dow Jones and Hang Seng Sustainability Indices.
