13 July 2015

To commemorate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee, Jen attempts to break the record for Singapore’s “The Ice Kachang” at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore. The team lead by Lee Hoong Wan, the hotel’s chef de cuisine, will pile up bags of ice shavings to form a giant ice kachang, predicting to be five metres in height and weighing four thousand kilograms.

Hervé Duboscq, the hotel’s general manager mentioned, “We want to do something memorable to celebrate the nation’s 50th birthday and what’s better than to set a record for one of Singapore’s local delicacies, the ice kachang, which brings Singaporeans way back to the ‘50s and ‘60s. Additionally, we’re also excited to adopt Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) as our charity organisation and 100% of the proceeds of that day will be donated to them.”

Everyone is welcome to drop by on 5 August 2015 to watch the record breaking challenge. The team will also give out bowls of ice kachang and everyone can drop in any amount they wish into the donation box. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to CPAS.
