Singapore’s National Day Celebrations
Singapore is turning 51! One of the festivals in the city takes place at The Esplanade Arts Centre – the three-day National Day Festival from August 7-9. Here’s a run-down of my must-see list:
Spirit of the Parade
While the actual National Day Parade is being held in the National Stadium, the Esplanade is holding its own mini-parade (August 7-9) which will be led by the internationally renowned Singapore Women Police Pipes and Drums and the 70-member Devi Military Band.
The Singing Chef – A Love Affair with National Day
If you love singing, dancing, music and food, don’t miss The Singing Chef (August 9). The interactive culinary experience is part musical theatre and part cooking show with a few tasty dishes – satay chicken and mee goreng – thrown into the mix. Sedap!
Esplanade Festival Village
Located along the waterfront, the arts centre’s outdoor bazaar (August 5-9) will feature over 50 stalls selling delicious treats and locally-produced artisanal goods. I’m stopping by Perghh to get my hands on their famous sticky glazed chicken wings. Then I’ll wash it down with Iceburnz’s salted caramel milkshake – so delish!
