Whenever I smell lavender it instantly gives me a sense of calm – that Zen feeling you get after a day at the spa or a long soak in the tub. Ahhhh… and there’s some truth to feeling relaxed by the scent of lavender – research shows it can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Don’t believe it?

Just a short distance outside of Shenyang is Ziyan Lavender Manor, the world’s largest lavender farm with purple flowers as far as the eye can see. Rows and rows of lavender along with vibrant verbena, sunflowers and herbs such as rosemary and thyme blanket the vast area.

This beautiful landscape is the place for a selfie! Many visitors are thinking the same thing, as you might bump into a television crew filming or a couple taking their wedding photos. Love is also in the air, quite literally, as giant letters L-O-V-E are placed on a hillside.

Don’t miss out on the dazzling scenery since the lavender blooms from mid-July for about 100 days.
