Go Further! Best Places for Running in Shenyang
Now the winter snow has lifted and the sun is shining, it feels like the time to tie up my running shoes and go for a jog.
Just 10 minutes from my hotel I found Zhongshan Park. At 6 am, the place was quiet, with a few other walkers, runners and residents engrossed in tai chi. As well as getting healthy, I got a good look at the local culture and since it was just minutes away. The park was an easy pleaser.
If you want to combine your run with a popular cultural attraction, head over to Beijing Park, where I’m told there’s an 8km track. You’ll run past hawkers, cyclists and ancient architecture on your way there, too!
At Wuli River Park, you can slip away from the crowds. My jog in this quiet sanctuary was almost undisturbed, save for a few other early risers practising tai chi. I certainly felt like I’d escaped the rest of Shenyang’s eight million residents!
Shenyang is also home to many rivers and canal paths whose flat paved pathways offer smooth running tracks away from the traffic. These are also great places to jog in Shenyang.
Just because you are away, don’t think you have to skip out on your exercise routine. There are lots of places to run in Shenyang, so don’t forget your shoes!
Ask my staff for directions from my hotel to Zhongshan Park and enjoy your run!
