JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA, April 28, 2017 – True to its name, Bakar Bakar with Jen by the Harbour poses a friendly outdoor grill with the scenic view of Johor Straits paired with a specially curated buka puasa menu for the fasting month to satisfy the nostalgic pangs.

The hotel features a mix of the country’s favourites, some of which are prepared in authentic Malay kampung-style live-cooking stations. Guests should look out for the slow-cooked KambingKuzi Johor, whole roasted Kambing Golek and a selection of meats and ikan panggang done right before the guest’s eyes.

With more than 150 luscious dishes ranging from Middle East to Chinese and all geared towards preserving heritage, the buffet prepared by Executive Chef Amirudin Jaafar, fondly known as Chef Amir, and his team, will impress diners with old family recipes, such as Asam Pedas Tujuh Keturunan, Masak Lemak Cili Api Tujuh Beradik and Kari Meletup Tujuh Tingkat.

“This time around, we want you to celebrate the special month like no other. We are transforming one of the Puteri Harbour event hall areas into a quirky kampung feel. You will be able to sample only the freshest grill selection at Aly Brazilian Style Grill and do not forget the Kita Bakar Je station to feature everyone’s favourite grilled items, Ayam Percik. Buka puasa is also better with Malay traditional dishes, such as Kerabu Hidayat (traditional salad) will feature more than 15 types of Kerabu. It’s going to be massive!” said Chef Amir.

Next to all the lovely salads are mouth-watering dips, such as Sambal Belacan, Cincalok, Budu, Tempoyak Cili, Sambal Gesek, Air Asam and Sambal Mangga.

He and his dessert team offer more than 50 varieties of sweetness in the dessert spread with assorted Malay Kuih, assorted French pastries, a line-up of fruits and a drink station serving milky and delicious Teh Tarik and the famous Air Katira. There will also be a station serving the delicate Apam and Putu Mayam prepared live.

Diners can also feast on the king of fruits – durian – after sating their appetites at the buffet all night long.
