George Town is an amazing city and you’ll never get bored while staying here. You’ll fall in love and stay longer than you think!

We’ve come up a list of fun activities for you (don’t say "me boh jio" – local slang for “not inviting”).

Find a secret bar/café

Have an enjoyable evening by strolling down the lanes in George Town in search of hidden hangout spots. Some of my favourites include the super-cool bar, Magazine 63, and the snug little café, Narrow Marrow.

Gawking at street art

Catch the famous Jimmy Choo, a dinosaur pet, giant trishaw, 3D bicycle, cats and happy children and so much more.

Searching for the past

Walk into any of the historical buildings, do some quick research on the past and immerse yourself in the rich heritage and culture. You will be amazed with the colourful Peranakan or Baba Nyonya culture in Penang.

Tease your taste buds

Tease your taste buds with our local favourites. Grab a bowl of sweet icy cendol with “rojak” – a Penang-style mixed fruit salad tossed with a special shrimp paste sauce. Alternatively, dip some fried spring rolls into the sour-and-spicy assam laksa for a burst of spices in your mouth.

Take a selfie from 249 metres above the ground!

Experience the open-air Rainbow Skywalk, on Level 68 at THE TOP@Komtar – a tall building in Penang.

Occupy Beach Street

Get up early and join the locals in promoting healthy activities, every Sunday from 7 am to 1 pm. The Beach Street will be crowded with local artisans and stalls selling gifts, food and games. If you’re lucky, you can join a Zumba dance on certain Sundays, too.

Feast on fresh seafood

Follow the locals and enjoy delicious and affordable seafood in George Town! My pick – Da Shu Xia Seafood House (loosely translated as “under a shady tree”). Order the local favourite’s salted-egg soft-shell crab and prawns in coconut.

Tour the clan jetties

Each jetty is home to different clans from Chinese settlements, and are made of houses built in stilts over the water. It’s one of the famous and favourite spots for sunrise and sunset.

As usual, ask my team members for the happenings in town!
