San Augustin Church Museum Will Take Your Breath Away
There’re eight museums in Manila’s Intramuros, so it’s hard narrowing down which to plan into your itinerary. One of my favourites is the breathtaking San Augustin Church Museum. A stone stairway begins your step back in time, and there’s plenty to please the eye from there. Here’s a checklist of things to look out for – I have faith you’ll have a good time!
Oil paintings — hung in many areas inside the museum. Art fans take note: The framed canvases on the first floor are usually for sale.
Stained glass windows — multi-coloured and immense, these cloak the space in stunning light.
Carved choir seats — intricately carved by hand in colonial times, these are majestic.
Wow-worthy ceiling — crafted in the French decorative trompe l’oeil style, these arched ceilings appear like a 3D vision in stone.
