Culinary Arts: Dining in Malé
You might be on island time now, but that doesn't mean there aren't gastronomic delights to be sampled! Dress up and try out one of these places:
Located in a sumptuous dining room, Sala Thai on Buruneege is easily regarded as the best Thai restaurant in town. It's a formal affair with dark wood furnishings and a huge choice of curries, noodles and soups. I recommend booking ahead for an evening meal here!
The boutique restaurant Aioli on Lotus Goalhi offers two dining rooms and a stylish outdoor terrace. It boasts a menu comprised of Western classics with local flavours -- you'll find mussels, Angus steak and coconut chili crab all on offer.
Less formal is the delightful Seagull Café House, which boasts a downstairs garden and a terrace with a tree growing through it! The menu is vast and includes countless favourites. There's also a gelataria next door – it’s my pick for the city's best ice cream!
Go al fresco at Salt Café & Restaurant, located not far from the famous Fish Market. It has a view of the harbour and a selection of the greatest hits of Italian, Thai and Japanese food on the menu.
With Malé's cultural mix, there's bound to be a restaurant to suit your tastes. Simply ask my team for a recommendation!
