SINGAPORE, 30 AUGUST 2018 – As part of Hotel Jen’s global brand pillar JenWhyArt – an initiative to celebrate and support aspiring artists outside the hotel, emerging photographers across Hong Kong entered Affordable Art Fair’s ‘Discovery: Photography Prize’ competition, held in association with Hotel Jen. Affordable Art Fair, which returned to Hong Kong for its sixth edition on May 18-20, 2018. The focus on inspiring artists and young emerging talents, makes the collaboration with the Hotel Jen brand a good fit.

Both Hotel Jen and Affordable Art Fair searched for Hong Kong’s best photographers who captured the city’s streets through their lenses. Through a rigorous selection process, Tommy Fung emerged the final winner for his art piece ‘Flying Taxi’ and won a 30-day solo exhibition at three Hotel Jen properties (Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore) for his art piece.

Tommy Fung is a graphic designer and photographer. In 2014, he was one of the finalists at the WYNG Masters Award on the theme of “AIR”. In 2017 he began a project called "My Surreal Life in Hong Kong" to recreate surreal and funny situations using Photoshop, sharing them on Instagram and Facebook, as @surrealhk.

As the final stop of this exhibition, Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore hopes to make use of this opportunity to encourage local artists in Singapore to actively and relentlessly pursue their dreams.

Along with his winning piece, he brings along other art pieces which will be available for viewing at the hotel from 11 September 2018 through 11 October 2018. Exhibition is open to public with no admission fee.

Julian Wipper, General Manager of Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore said “We’re heartened to have Tommy share his works with our guests come September. It is especially beneficial for budding artists in Singapore who wish to draw inspirations for their future creativity. Importantly, this is also a great opportunity to provide insights to our guests and local community from one of our other Hotel Jen locations.”
