CHECK OUT THE ‘ULTIMATE PRAWN PARTY’ BY MAKAN@JEN AT HOTEL JEN ORCHARDGATEWAY SINGAPORE
SINGAPORE, 26 SEPTEMBER 2016 – From 3rd October to 1st December, Makan@Jen at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore invites patrons to a prawn extravaganza. The restaurant has brought in four different types of prawns from around the world – Thai White Prawns, Indian River Prawns, Norwegian Scampi and Vietnamese Yabbies.
There is good international representation amongst the selected prawns. From the more familiar prawns from India and Thailand, to their lesser seen, ‘crayfish/lobster-like’ cousins from Vietnam and Norway. The subtle differences are found in the texture and flavours of the prawns’ flesh, as these determine how they can be best prepared. The chefs at Makan@Jen will gladly share their knowledge and make the appropriate recommendations on how to best enjoy a particular type of prawn, so do not be afraid to have a conversation with them.
The prawns will be prepared in a number of ways – simmered in lightly alcoholic broth, stir-fried, steamed, baked and even coated in batter and fried to a golden crisp. The chefs at
Makan@Jen will be showcasing a plethora of flavour profiles from across numerous cuisines and cultures such as Cantonese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese and of course, local Singaporean. The different prawn dishes will be divided across 3 different menus, which will be rotated throughout the promotion period.
They will also be accompanied by a selection of five premium sauces – salted egg yolk, black pepper, sweet and sour, prawn bisque, and Thai chilli. This prawn special will be added to the usual buffet spread for patrons and guests to rediscover the humble crustacean.
“Prawns have always been a favourite with people, but I wanted to do something better, something with a twist,” says Head Chef Lee Hoong Wan, “So I decided to bring in different types of prawns from across the globe and prepare them in different styles to expand the knowledge and palates of our patrons and guests. Here at Makan@Jen we always try to give our patrons that unique ‘Jen feeling’ by pushing the culinary boundaries with the endless combinations of ingredients available to us.”
The Ultimate Prawn Party promotion at Makan@Jen is only available Mondays to Thursdays, during dinner time from 6.30pm to 10.00pm.
