Dives of your Lives
I think the moment I got hooked on diving was the first time I swam with a whale shark. There’s something so wondrous about losing yourself under the water surrounded by a host of fabulous sea life, and however many times you dive it’s always accompanied with heady adrenaline!
Luckily enough, dive centres in Johor Bahru are ready to whisk you away on your next dive (and introduce newbies to underwater adventures if you haven’t yet dipped in your toes). They cater to all levels, offering beginner right up to rescues courses, and will suggest ideal destinations depending on your experience.
A chain of beautiful islands is reachable from Mersing, just two hours away from Johor Bahru. Tioman Island is an idyllic spot, whether you want to go for an instruction course, like PADI, or simply a leisure dive. The big island off the archipelago is home to great stretches of coral reefs, and I’ve swum alongside fish, turtles and some small sharks on this heavenly island.
Further afield, the clear waters of quiet islands Pulau Aur and Pulau Dayang attract bountiful marine life including barracudas and manta rays that take your breath away.
Many of the Johor Bahru dive centres can arrange trips to these spots.
I took to diving like a fish to water. With the range of friendly, local dive centres close to my hotel, I am sure that you will too!
