 SOAK UP THE SPECIAL MONTH WITH A LIVELY AND HEARTY OUTDOOR BUFFET  

True to its name, Bakar Bakar with Jen by the Harbour features a friendly outdoor grill and scenic views of the Johor Straits paired with a specially curated buka puasa menu.  

The hotel features a mix of the country’s favourites, some of which are prepared at authentic Malay kampung-style live-cooking stations. Guests should look out for the slow-cooked Kambing Kuzi Johor, whole roasted Kambing Golek and a selection of meats and ikan panggang that can be prepared right before their eyes. With more than 150 luscious dishes ranging from Middle Eastern to Chinese cuisine that are all geared towards preserving heritage, the buffet from Executive Chef Amirudin Jaafar, who is fondly known as Chef Amir, and his team will impress diners. Sample old family recipes, such as Asam Pedas Tujuh Keturunan, Masak Lemak Cili Api Tujuh Beradik and Kari Meletup Tujuh Tingkat.  

  

“This time around, we want you to celebrate the special month like never before. We are transforming one of the Puteri Harbour event hall areas into a quirky area with a kampung feel. You will be able to sample the freshest grilled items at Aly Brazilian Style Grill and Ayam Percik at the Kita Bakar Je station. Buka puasa is also better with Malay traditional dishes, such as Kerabu Hidayat (traditional salad). The buffet will feature more than 15 types of Kerabu. It’s going to be massive!” said Chef Amir. 

  

Next to all the lovely salads, you'll find mouthwatering dips, such as Sambal Belacan, Cincalok, Budu, Tempoyak Cili, Sambal Gesek, Air Asam and Sambal Mangga. Pop by Kawah Pak Busu for heated pots of Bubur Lambuk Kampung Baru, as well as Opor Ayam, Daging Masak Ungkep, Sambal Udang Pati Santan and Sotong Masak Hitam, among other items, at Gerai Tujuh Lauk Pak Hakim. Syuhada Kata Mesti Ada is where to go to indulge in Ketupat and Lemang with peanut sauce, Serunding Ayam and Serunding Daging.  

  

The comforting Sup Power Bhaiiii Station will be good for those who want something after a long day of fasting. It offers the must have Mizi Gearbox Dan Spare Part, Roti Benggali and condiment, Johor’s sweetheart, Soto Ayam with assorted Bergedil, Nasi Impit and condiment.  

  

The hot buffet station offers luscious Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes that are guaranteed to satisfy any foodie. Choosing is always difficult, as the dishes on this buffet are utterly divine. Aneka Mee Tujuh Rasa offers a selection of noodles, including Char Kuew Teow, Lor Sze Fun and Makaroni Goreng Pedas. The Chinatown Ah Hong Chicken Rice stall features Malaysia’s quintessential Hainanese Chicken Rice.  

  

Fadzil Middle Eastern Shawarma serves two Chicken and Lamb Shawarma with mint yogurt, garlic mayo and pickled onion condiments. Hotel Jen’s very own Pastry Chef Zuwairi Shuaib, or Chef Zu, is famed for his exquisite sweet creations. He and his dessert team offer more than 50 varieties of sweet treats, including assorted Malay Kuih, various French pastries and a line-up of fruits. In addition, a drink station serving milky and delicious Teh Tarik and the famous Air Katira will also be available. Guests can also enjoy the delicate Apam and Putu Mayam prepared to order.   

   

Furthermore, diners can feast on the king of fruits – the durian – after enjoying the buffet all night long. A meal would not be complete without a sweet ending, so guests can continue their durian adventure with D24 Cheesecake and Durian Goreng, or an exquisite line-up of other desserts. From Chocolate fountains to Western cakes and traditional desserts, you’ll have just what you need to end a day of indulgence.  

   

Guests may enjoy Bakar Bakar with Jen by the Harbour for only MYR 146 net per adult and MYR 73 net per child aged 5 to 12 years old. The special early-bird rate of MYR 116 net per person will be available from now until 20 May 2017. Bakar Bakar with Jen by the Harbour is also available for private events with a minimum of 30 attendees. Prices for private parties start from MYR 116 per person.
