A Day Out at Pulau Kukup
A definite must for nature lovers, Pulau Kukup is home to one of the largest uninhabited mangroves in the world. I drove through really pretty scenery to get to there and arrived nicely chilled out.
Located on an offshore island across from a sleepy fishing village, take a ferry to access the park. I explored the different species of mangrove trees and kept an eye out for the wild boars I’d been told roam there. They must have been in hiding that day, but I got another surprise. Some rather cheeky monkeys were watching me from the branches above – it was only when they began chattering that I noticed.
I couldn’t help thinking this unique excursion would have been a great way for kids to get closer to nature. I’ll be back again with a few families in tow.
