Summer Fun Park at AsiaWorld-Expo
Beat the summer heat in Hong Kong with a day out at Lai Yuen Super Summer 2016 amusement park. Think of bumper cars, a merry-go-round, local snack food, burgers, hot dogs and a giant elephant named Tino. Go for a spin on Hong Kong’s first electric go-kart facility “XRace” or challenge yourself in the city’s long inflatable obstacle course, the 110-metre “Inflatable Mad Dash”.
The amusement park is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for many Hong Kongers – it was a large theme park in the post war era (Ocean Park or Hong Kong’s Disneyland wasn’t an option) until it closed in 1997.
Last year, the park reopened on the Central Harbourfront, but boy was it hot. (We do love our air-conditioning!) This year, it relocates to a large indoor and outdoor facility at AsiaWorld Expo with at least 20 attractions, from July 15 to August 7. I’m definitely giving it a second go!
