Something to Remember You By: Shopping
Hong Kong has countless bargains hidden away within its markets and street stalls. A day devoted to shopping will uncover countless keepsakes and mementos to delight you and your friends.
You'll find the sprawling Temple Street Night Market in central Kowloon between Jordan Road and Kansu Street five blocks away. Hong Kong's large night market, it's a good place to pick up a souvenir, gift or trinket: from handbags to toys, jade souvenirs, teapots and even palm-reading! Here's a tip: make sure you bargain before you buy! You don't need to do much talking – just name the price you want to pay and, if the seller doesn't meet you in the middle, pretend to lose interest.
For a completely opposite experience, there's luxury shopping aplenty within the city. International brands take pride in places at the IFC Mall in Central, which also has a pleasant outdoor terrace for a mid-shop lunch break. In Causeway Bay, high-rise mall Hysan Place boasts a 24-hour bookshop, Eslite. Close to Central, the trendy district of Sheung Wan offers boutique stores specialising in quirky, unusual homewares, high-end designs and gifts.
