Must See Shows at the Hong Kong Arts Festival
The Hong Kong Arts Festival has built a reputation for bringing some of the world’s fine performing companies to Hong Kong, and this year is no different. I already have my tickets for, Jane Eyre, presented by England’s reputed Bristol Old Vic, and a new production by the prestigious Debussy String Quartet, who will play music by Bach with jazz musicians.
Dance fans will marvel at the lavish costumes and chic modern moves by the National Theatre and National Dance Company of Korea in Scent of Ink, as well as passionate flamenco by Compagnie 111. I am also aching to see Circa’s contemporary circus masterpiece, Opus, which combines dance with acrobatics.
If you fancy seeing something more local, Cantonese and Mainland Chinese opera is on the programme.
The festival ends with a real grande finale – the Russian Mikhailovsky Ballet Company’s production of The Sleeping Beauty. Pretty ballerinas in pastel tutus just make me swoon, and this company is known to be A-grade.
I’m sure I’ll be signing up to see much more before the curtain comes down on the festival. What’s on of your list?
There’s still a few tickets left for shows, so ask my team to help you arrange bookings. Programme details are available here.
