Mooncake ads have been plastered up all over town for months. Follow me on a tour of Hong Kong’s moon festival celebrations:

Party in the Park
The big Mid-Autumn gathering, this party at Victoria Park has to be seen to be believed. Locals cluster around cuddly toys and games stalls in the park’s paved area, while a massive Fire Dragon dance, bright-lit huge lanterns and kungfu displays take place on the grass.

Rustic and Relaxed
Experience carnival night in a more rural setting at Tai Po’s waterfront. Expect folk craft, Chinese opera, and ethnic acrobatics and dance, and don’t miss the area’s famous wishing tree.

Lights Fantastic
Mosey over to Tsim Sha Tsui’s Science Museum to see beautiful large lanterns decorating the outside space.
