Celebrate French Culture at Le French May Arts Festival
Imagine experiencing everything that makes France fabulous without taking a flight halfway across the world. That’s Le French May, an annual arts and culture festival that takes place in Hong Kong from May 7 to June 25.
Events take place at bars, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and galleries across the city. Want to join the party? Here’s what’s on my “must visit” list for Le French May 2016. I can’t wait to see you there!
First, I’ll be dropping in on the Malandain Ballet’s modern version of Cinderella, followed by the animated French fantasy movie, Brendan and the Secret of Kells. Galleries across town are singing with works of French artists. Two I plan on seeing are YellowKorner’s fine-art photography depicting French beauty and Gao Xingjian’s abstract Chinese calligraphy (the artist moved to France when he was exiled from China).
France’s gastronomy is so huge that it has its own dedicated name and website. This year, Le French GourMay celebrates wine and food from Alsace with events focused on this region in Eastern France. To choose from wine master classes, tastings and culinary events, search the listings here.
