Finding The Wonder of Christmas
Brisbane brings on seasonal cheer with its The Wonder of Christmas event. There’s a whole four weeks of free Christmas events this December – you can’t get better value than that!
Go see the huge illuminated Christmas tree in King George Square and then head over to the Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular. These are the best Christmas lights in Brisbane, and this year the theme of the projections comes from one of my favourite festive stories, The Nutcracker.
I love to see something different, so I’ll go wandering the cobbles at Stanley Street Plaza’s market on the South Bank to pick up a few one-of-a-kind gifts, and maybe even a Christmas pudding, as nearby carollers sing. Even the air smells Christmassy there thanks to all the real fir trees. This feels like a perfect way to Christmas shop.
You won’t want to miss Brisbane’s amazing Christmas parade. There’re hundreds of dancers, drummers, Christmas elves and, of course, Santa and his reindeers to keep the whole family smiling. I also guarantee “oohing” and “aahing” from old and young at Brisbane’s Christmas Fireworks Spectacular. The fireworks whoosh, crack and cascade over the Brisbane River in a beautiful display that feels really magical.
